Program Overview
The Multi-Agency Land and Water Education Grant Program was started
in 1997 to help integrate educational programming and local conservation efforts.
Program support comes from the
Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Wisconsin Department
of Natural Resources (WDNR), the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture,
Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), the Farm Service Agency (FSA),
and the University of Wisconsin-Extension (UWEX). Funds for winning
grant proposals comes from the NRCS- sponsored Environmental Quality
Incentives Program and the Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative,
the DNR and UWEX. Since its inception, the MALWEG Program has allocated
over $1 million to over 100 projects.
