NU01-30 Project Title:

Training Farmers to Develop Nutrient
Management Plans

Project Summary:

This project will contract Eau Claire County Farmers to
participate in small workgroups to develop a nutrient
management plan for their farms. The program will provide the information and training necessary to determine where and at what level nutrients should be applied to achieve economic yield while protecting the environment. Farmers will then implement this plan into their farming operation. The project will target producers who have soil resource concerns and have conservation plans that are less than or equal to tolerable soil loss levels. This project will address water quality concerns by incorporating surface and groundwater protection into the curriculum.

Main Activities:

  • Workshops - calibrating manure spreaders, updating conservation plans, soil testing and a farm practice inventory.
  • One-on-one
