Shawano County Nutrient Management Education Project

Project Summary:

This project will provide both classroom training and follow-up field experience for producers and local agency staff to develop and implement an effective nutrient management plan. The specific format for this project will be modeled after the Trempealeau County curriculum, including: staff training, producer workshops and follow-up field visitsor plot work. Six farmers will be selected each year (12 farms over the next two years) to participate in the Shawano County Nutrient Management project. Special emphasis will be made to involve Shawano Count farms having cropland less than 300 feet from streams or 1000 feet from lakes to maximize environmental benefits.
