NU02-41 Project Title:

Nutrient Management Farmer Education

Current Status:

  Active

Project Summary:

The goal of this project is to enroll 15 farms that average approximately 210 acres per farm.  UWEX and LWCD staff will survey farms for their current manure application and crop fertilizing practices.  Farm Conservation plans will be updated, as needed and new conservation plans developed if none exist.  Soil testing will be required on each farm if previous soil tests are more than three growing seasons old.  Workshops will focus on nitrogen management and the other on phosphorus management.  Following the workshops, each participant will develop a NM plan with assistance from UWEX and LWCD staff.   Follow up visits on each of the participating farms will evaluate management changes and document the impact of the program on each farm.
