boulevard sections -- a broad often landscaped thoroughfare

detention basin -- the temporary storage of stormwater in a BMP, which is used to control the peak discharge rates, and which provides gravity settling of pollutants

ditch checks or check dam -- Check dams are constructed across drainage ways to reduce concentrated flows in the channel and protect vegetation in the early stages of growth. They can consist of stones, sandbags, or gravel, and are most commonly used in the bottom of channels that will be stabilized at a later date. Although check dams also collect sediment and hence act as filters, their primary purpose is to reduce erosive velocities. For more information on check dams, download the pdf here.

forebay -- a reservoir or canal from which water is taken to run equipment (as a waterwheel or turbine)
A sediment forebay is a settling basin or plunge pool constructed at the incoming discharge points of a stormwater BMP.The purpose of a sediment forebay is to allow sediment to settle from the incoming stormwater runoff before it is delivered to the balance of the BMP. A sediment forebay helps to isolate the sediment deposition in an accessible area, which facilitates BMP maintenance efforts.

grassy swale -- grassy depressions in the ground designed to collect stormwater runoff from streets, driveways, rooftops and parking lots. The grass in the swale removes pollutants from stormwater as the water infiltrates into the soil. The treated water recharges groundwater supplies.

Conventional grassed swales are gently sloped, vegetated conveyance ditches in which pollutants are removed from stormwater by filtration through grass and infiltration into the soil. For more information about grassy swales, download the pdf here.

infiltration basin -- the holding of runoff in a basin without release except by means of evaporation, infiltration, or emergency bypass

source-area controls -- best management practices intended to prevent storm water runoff from contacting materials that can potentially contaminate it or if contact occurs, to reduce pollutants at the source of contamination.

minimize or eliminate contact of storm water with pollutant sources
Many of these practices will be simple, non-technical, low-cost approaches to pollution prevention.
