Welcome to the Timber Harvest website.
This website is a tool for landowners and others interested in forest management. The website follows an oak timber stand in Southwest Wisconsin before and after a clear cut harvest to demonstrate the visual impact of harvesting and outline key decisions that the landowner had to make.

For most landowners,
aesthetics are very important. Landowners who are aware of the visual impact that logging will have on their property will be better informed to make decisions about a harvest before it takes place.

In this stand,
photos were taken at specific plots before the harvest. Follow-up photos were taken at those same locations shortly after the harvest, and then about one year later. The photos reveal several visual impacts that landowners should be aware of, including impacts to recreation, the amount of slash on the forest floor, scenic views, and forest edges.
